At Kora center we have the calendar of events and celebrate those special days with children and families.
Moreover, we open our Centre’s doors to our community annually to join us and get to know each other more.
KORA INCURSION
Milli and Jennys Recycling and Sustainability show
Kora has its incursion on 23rd July 2024.
Michael Caruso, the director of Adventure Kids Education and his company delivered an educational environmental show to children. They used story, song and dance to engage and inspire children and families to increase their awareness on how to look after our precious environment.
Thanks to the City of Bayswater who had offered us a free environmental incursion to our centre. Some of our parents too enthusiastically joined our kids to “learn together” and prosper from the experience. Milli and Jennys recycling and sustainability show took children on a journey to understand what common household waste can be recycled, repurposed or replaced with more sustainable options. Milli the Hen and Jenny taught children how to identify recyclable waste by identifying the structure, feel and look of the waste, and to highlight what waste be used for composting and how we can avoid single use plastics and highlight the impacts of littering on the environment.
Children learnt:
- what type of things can be recycled
- What type of things can we receive money for (10 cent containers for change)
- Children also learnt about what to do with batteries and other items (they go to drop off points at the local recreation centre)
- The show assisted children to create a plastic free lunchbox and picnic basket highlighting the need to decrease single use plastic items and how we can repurpose used containers (jars, ice cream tub and Milo tin) to store foods in
- The children also learnt about the impact litter has on our environment.
